Overview

What it is and who it is for

The DSC 3G2060-LAT is an HSPA (3G) cellular alarm communicator for DSC PowerSeries PC1616, PC1832 and PC1864 control panels with firmware 4.5 or later. It sends panel alarm events to Sur-Gard monitoring station receivers over the cellular network as a primary path or as a backup to a telephone dialer.

The radio is quad band at 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz, with dual band 850/1900 MHz operation in North America. Alarm traffic uses 128-bit AES encryption, events report in SIA or Contact ID format, and supervision heartbeats run over the cellular path. The board takes a nominal 12 VDC from the panel Bell+ terminal and draws 90 mA standby and 400 mA while transmitting, connects to the panel PC-LINK and Keybus, and mounts inside the panel enclosure. It operates from 0 to 49 C at 5 to 93 percent relative humidity, non-condensing.

DSC lists GS-15ANTQ (15 ft, indoor) and GS-25ANTQ or GS-50ANTQ (25 ft and 50 ft, outdoor) antenna extension kits for sites with weak signal.

  • Best for: adding cellular alarm reporting to existing PowerSeries PC1616, PC1832 and PC1864 installations.
  • System fit: DSC PowerSeries PC1616, PC1832, PC1864 (v4.5 or later); Sur-Gard System I, II, III and IV receivers.
  • Important to know: the communicator needs an active cellular service account and must be programmed by a qualified alarm technician; the manual notes the panel Bell output must be derated by the communicator current.
