What it is and who it is for

The DSC BV-601 is a Bravo 6 microprocessor based twin dual element passive infrared motion detector with a Form A alarm contact and a tamper switch. It uses Multi-Level Signal processing and is designed for immunity to pets under 2.5 ft tall and up to 85 lb (38 kg).

It covers a 100 degree maximum angle with the wall-to-wall lens and mounts on a wall or in a corner at 7 to 10.5 ft (7.5 ft nominal) with +2 to -5 degree vertical adjustment. It runs on 9.5 to 14.5 VDC with 16.5 mA standby and 17.5 mA alarm current, and the alarm and tamper contacts are rated 100 mA at 24 VDC. It operates from 0 to 49 C at 5 to 93 percent RH.

Jumper J2 stays on for normal environments or small pets under 1.2 ft and is removed for large or multiple pets, and J1 turns the alarm LED on or off. The BV-600 omits the tamper and the BV-602 has a Form C contact with tamper.

  • Best for: interior motion protection on hardwired zones where pets under 2.5 ft and up to 85 lb are present.
  • System fit: hardwired alarm control panel zones; connect to a listed control unit or power supply with at least 4 hours standby.
  • Important to know: UL has not verified the pet immunity or RF immunity, and DSC has posted a BV Series product discontinuance notice dated February 2025.
