What it is and who it is for

The Icom IC-F5220D is an IDAS digital mobile radio for vehicles on a 136 to 174 MHz VHF system. It holds 128 channels in 8 zones, transmits at 50, 25 or 5 W and runs analog FM or IDAS (NXDN) digital, including multi-site conventional and single-site or multi-site trunking.

Digital features include PTT ID, call alert, status and short data messages, radio check, stun, kill and revive, emergency and a digital voice scrambler, with 500 individual and 500 group aliases per mode. It is tested to MIL-STD-810G and comes with the HM-152 hand microphone.

  • Best for: public works, utilities, security and transport fleets running IDAS digital or mixed analog and digital VHF systems.
  • System fit: VHF 136 to 174 MHz; analog FM and IDAS (NXDN) digital conventional, multi-site conventional and trunking.
