What it is and who it is for

The Icom IC-F5330D is an IDAS digital mobile radio for vehicles on a 136 to 174 MHz VHF system. It holds 128 channels in 8 zones, transmits at up to 50 W and runs analog FM or IDAS (NXDN) digital, including NXDN Type-D single-site trunking.

It uses a two-piece design: a black-box main unit and a remote Commandmic with a high-contrast LCD, connected by a single PoE Ethernet cable that can run up to 100 m on Cat 5e. The Commandmic delivers about 1700 mW of audio, and the radio is tested to MIL-STD-810G.

  • Best for: fleets with tight dash space or remote-mount installs, such as utilities, public works and specialty vehicles.
  • System fit: VHF 136 to 174 MHz; analog FM and IDAS (NXDN) digital conventional and Type-D single-site trunking.
