What it is and who it is for

The Iuron IU-CAB-QSFP/4SFP+-P2M is a 2 m passive direct attach copper (DAC) breakout cable that connects one 40GBASE-CR4 QSFP+ port to four 10GBASE-CU SFP+ ports. It links 40G QSFP+ switches to 10G SFP+ switches, servers and host adapters.

Each SFP+ channel runs at up to 10.3125 Gb/s for 40 Gb/s aggregate, and the cable supports 40GbE, QDR InfiniBand, SAS and Fibre Channel. The 30 AWG copper cable has zinc die-cast QSFP and SFP+ connectors with pull-to-release latches, and it meets the SFP+ (SFF-8431) and QSFP (SFF-8436) MSAs and RoHS.

  • Best for: connecting 40G QSFP+ switches to 10G SFP+ switches or servers in data centers and direct attached storage.
  • System fit: 40GBASE-CR4 QSFP+ ports and 10GBASE-CU SFP+ ports; 40GbE, QDR InfiniBand, SAS and Fibre Channel.
  • Important to know: the QSFP+ port must support 4x 10G breakout mode; passive copper suits short in-rack and adjacent-rack runs.
