What it is and who it is for

The Edwards 1508-AQN5 is a 1500 Series electromagnetic door holder for surface wall mount. It holds a door open with a nominal 25 lbf (111 N) and releases it whenever the holder is de-energized, so doors release automatically if power fails and can still be opened or closed by hand at any time.

It operates on 24 VAC, 24 VDC or 120 VAC at 60 Hz and draws 0.015 A. The housing has a baked polyester powder paint finish, operation is silent, and the adjustable swivel contact plate uses a shock absorbing nylon ball. Rated operating temperature is 32 to 120°F (0 to 49°C).

The replacement armature is the CS2595-5 (short), listed for 1501, 1502, 1505, 1508 and 1509 door holders. Catch plate extensions are sold separately: 1500-1 (1.5 in), 1500-2 (2.5 in), 1500-7 (5.25 to 7.5 in) and 1500-12 (7.5 to 12 in).
