Overview

What it is and who it is for

The Positron GAM-12-C is a G.hn Access Multiplexer (GAM) with 12 coaxial G.hn ports on F-type connectors and two 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks. It lets operators deliver managed Gigabit service over the existing coax wiring in multi-dwelling and multi-tenant buildings, acting as the G.hn Domain Master on every port.

Each coax port runs point-to-multipoint and supports up to 16 subscriber endpoints, with up to 1.7 Gbps of dynamically allocated bandwidth per port using a Wave-2 G.hn profile (ITU-T G.9960 Amd 2, G.9961, G.9962, G.9964) over a 200 MHz OFDM band. The unit runs on 100 to 240 VAC, draws up to 48 W, measures 442 x 44 x 254 mm and operates from 0 to 45 C.

Management is through the Positron VIRTUOSO domain controller, a built-in web GUI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and RMON, with an out-of-band Gigabit Ethernet port and a serial port. Positron names the G1001-C as the matching coax subscriber endpoint, and RF band notching allows coexistence with legacy analog CATV channels on the same cable.
