What it is and who it is for

The Ubiquiti UniFi Gateway Fiber (UXG-Fiber) is a compact desktop 10G independent gateway with an integrated 4-port 2.5 GbE switch. It handles routing, firewall and IDS/IPS for a UniFi network and is managed with a CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting or UniFi OS Server running UniFi Network.

Ubiquiti rates IDS/IPS throughput at 5 Gbps. WAN options are one 10G SFP+ port and one 10 GbE RJ45 port; the LAN side has one 10G SFP+ port and four 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports, one of them PoE+ with a 30 W budget. A quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of memory runs the gateway. It runs from the included 54 V DC adapter (1.1 A rating) and draws 25 W at most, not counting PoE output.

Ubiquiti lists multi-WAN load balancing, OSPF, license-free SD-WAN, Site Magic, IPsec, WireGuard and OpenVPN, an integrated RADIUS server, and IDS/IPS signatures of 55,000+ with CyberSecure. SFP+ modules are not included.

  • Best for: fiber and multi-gigabit internet connections at small and mid-size sites that want a UniFi gateway with a small built-in switch.
  • System fit: UniFi independent gateway managed with a CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting or UniFi OS Server.
  • Important to know: it needs an external UniFi Network host to manage it; only one of the 2.5 GbE ports provides PoE+ (30 W).
