MS-9050UD is a conventional fire alarm panel supporting up to 50 zones with conventional initiating circuits (no addressable detection). It's the right choice for small jobs (retail, small office, restaurants) where addressable detection is not required by code. MS-9200UDLS is addressable, supports up to 198 addressable points, and is the right choice for medium commercial jobs where addressable detection per device is needed for compliance or operational reasons. For expandable systems beyond 198 points, the ES-200X scales further.
Fire-Lite versus Notifier: when does Fire-Lite make sense?
Both are Honeywell brands. Fire-Lite is sized for small commercial and SMB (up to 198 addressable points typical, more with expanders). Notifier is sized for mid-to-large commercial (NFS-3030 supports thousands of points across networked panels). For a single-tenant retail, restaurant, small office, or small multi-family building, Fire-Lite is the practical choice on cost. For mid-rise commercial, hospitals, schools, and large multi-tenant, Notifier is the right tier. Both share many compatible Wheelock notification appliances and similar detector technologies.
Are current SD355 detectors compatible with my older MS panel?
Generally yes for current production SD355 on MS-9200UDLS and ES-series panels. Older MS-9200 (without UDLS suffix) and very early MS-9050 panels may need firmware updates to support newer detector revisions. Send us the panel model and year of installation and we cross-reference before shipping.
