The Icom BP-298 is the factory-designated Li-Ion battery pack for the IC-V86 VHF portable transceiver and the IC-F3003/IC-F4003 commercial radio series. Rated at 7.4 V with a minimum capacity of 2250 mAh and a typical capacity of 2300 mAh, it is the energy source that enables the IC-V86 to operate at its full 7 W EX Hi-power output mode and gives the IC-F3003 series up to 22 hours of operating time under a 5:5:90 transmit/receive/standby duty cycle with power save engaged. Designed as a direct OEM replacement, the BP-298 snaps into the radio chassis without tools, maintaining the host radio's rugged form factor. It is charged exclusively by Li-Ion-compatible chargers, with the BC-240 desktop rapid charger being the primary Icom-recommended solution. For fleet operations, the BC-214N multi-charger also accepts the BP-298 with the appropriate adapter cup, charging up to six packs simultaneously.
