The Icom IC-F5130D is a next-generation, single-body IDAS™ mobile radio built on Icom's latest design platform, delivering 50 W of VHF output power across the 136–174 MHz band in the USA version. Designed as an affordable entry point into Icom's CONNECT ecosystem, it operates in Analog FM mode, IDAS™ digital multi-site conventional mode, and IDAS™ digital single-site trunking mode—enabling a phased migration from legacy analog infrastructure without replacing every radio on day one. A high-contrast, wide-viewing-angle black-background LCD with 8-character alphanumeric display keeps operators informed at a glance, while a 4 W front-mounted speaker ensures audio cuts through vehicle cabin noise. The radio is MIL-STD-810G rated for shock, vibration, and temperature extremes, making it well-suited for public safety support, utilities, transportation, construction, and any field operation requiring rugged, dependable voice and data communication. GPS position display and auto-timed GPS send are supported via an external GPS receiver, and the optional D-SUB accessory cable opens a full input/output interface for external device integration. Note: 25 kHz bandwidth is no longer available for FCC Part 90 licensees on USA versions.

Key features & benefits

  • Dual-Mode IDAS™ Digital and Analog FM Operation — Supports IDAS™ digital multi-site conventional mode, IDAS™ digital single-site trunking mode, and Analog FM—allowing seamless coexistence with existing analog fleets and a clear digital migration path without system-wide forklift upgrades.
  • 50 W VHF RF Output Power (USA) — Delivers 50 W of transmit power across the 136–174 MHz VHF band, providing strong signal penetration for mobile deployments across large geographic service areas.
  • High-Contrast Black-Background LCD — The wide-viewing-angle, high-contrast black-background LCD with 8-character alphanumeric display provides excellent legibility in direct sunlight and low-light vehicle environments, with backlit buttons for night operation.
  • 128 Channels / 8 Zones — Organizes up to 128 channels into 8 zones, enabling logical separation of talk groups, geographic areas, or operational departments—critical for organizations with complex channel plans.
  • External GPS Position Display and Auto-Timed GPS Send — Supports GPS position display and automatic timed GPS transmission via an external GPS receiver, enabling real-time fleet visibility and location-aware dispatch workflows when paired with a compatible GPS unit.
  • Over-the-Air Alias (OAA) Caller ID — Displays the calling radio operator's name on the receiver's screen without requiring manual programming of a call list—reducing administrative overhead when adding users or reassigning radios.
  • Comprehensive Security and Safety Functions — Includes digital voice scrambler, emergency call, Lone Worker monitoring, remote monitor (RX), Radio Kill, Stun and Revive (RX), and power-on password—providing layered protection for both personnel and radio assets.
  • D-SUB ACC Interface for External Device Integration — An optional D-SUB accessory cable enables connection of external GPS receivers, PCs, or other peripherals, as well as external PTT, channel, horn, ignition switch, and dimmer control per programming.
  • MIL-STD-810G Certified Ruggedness — Tested to and passed MIL-STD-810G requirements for shock, vibration, and temperature extremes, and meets equivalent MIL-STD-810 C, D, E, and F standards—ensuring reliable operation in demanding field environments.
  • Advanced Scan Functions with Voting Scan — Supports up to 17 scan lists, priority scan monitoring one or two priority channels simultaneously, and voting scan that automatically selects the optimal repeater site—maximizing coverage in multi-site deployments.
  • RoIP Network Gateway Compatibility — Compatible with the optional VE-PG4 RoIP gateway, which interconnects the IC-F5130D with other radio systems across different bands over an IP network, extending communication reach without additional RF infrastructure.
  • 4 W Front-Mounted Speaker — A 4 W (typical) front-facing speaker delivers loud, clear audio throughout a vehicle cabin, ensuring critical communications are heard in high-noise mobile environments.
